Your First Visit
Welcome!Thank you for selecting Dental Care for Kids to treat your childs dental health needs. Our practice is dedicated to providing the highest standard of dental care, while maintaining a fun and relaxed environment. Our entire staff is specifically trained in the treatment of children. Your childs first visit Children should begin visiting the pediatric dentist no later than the age of 2 years. We follow the AAPD and AAP recommendations that children should receive their first dental visit within 6 months of the eruption of their first tooth or age one, whichever comes first. A childs initial dental visit often sets the tone for subsequent attitudes about dental care and oral health. It is quite important to establish good feelings about going to the dentist at an early age. Dr. Whitts goal is not for the child just to have a tolerable visit to the office, but to have great visits every time! |
Parents are encouraged to come into the treatment area on the first visit to see the office and to meet Dr. Whitt. The staff will make a great effort to ensure that your child feels comfortable in our office. We hope that you will become comfortable enough to allow them to enter the treatment area by themselves on subsequent visits. Through experience, we have learned that some childrens behavior is better without a parent present. This helps us focus 100% of our attention on your child. Occasionally, Dr. Whitt may feel that a child would respond with better behavior if a parent is present. If we do ask a parent or guardian to accompany their child into the treatment area, we suggest that they act as a silent and supportive observer. It is important for us to establish cooperation and trust directly with each patient. PREVENTIVE VISITS AND ORTHODONTICS Based on the results of your childs first visit and initial examination, we may recommend one or more follow up visits for completion of any existing dental treatment. These biannual appointments, Dr. Whitt will also assess your childs dental and skeletal developments and how it relates to future orthodontic treatments. Dr. Whitt is trained in the application of orthodontics and will regularly discuss treatment options if needed. Many times extensive and costly dental and orthodontic treatment can be averted through timely pediatric care as the face, jaw, and teeth are developing. |
cleanliness are always amazing. I always feel like I know what is going on with my kids' teeth. Dr Whitt answers all of my questions and gives possitive feedback to the little ones. What a neat, neat experience everytime we go to dentist. When my son was small, he wouldn't even open his mouth for the Dr. LOL But Dr. Whitt knew just exactly what to do. And my son's teeth are better because of it. Now my son will be 7 and has no cavities! Thank you Dr. Whitt! My husband got a better job offer in Sandiego and my only love lost will be not having Dr Whitt as my kids' dentist! Thank you so much for your genuine care and concern for my kids' dental health, you will be truely missed!! --Sarah Hughes |
